„Jean-Luc Picard is back“: Patrick Stewart spielt Hauptrolle in neuer Star-Trek-Serie
Executive Producer Alex Kurtzman and @SirPatStew surprised fans today at #STLV with news that he will be returning to the iconic role of Jean-Luc Picard for a new Star Trek series coming to @cbsallaccess. pic.twitter.com/8F0EPnQMXn

Vor den Fans erklärte er dabei: „I have spent a lot of time recently to watch Star Trek The Next Generation, including episodes I have never seen before. Which was fun and exciting. And gradually it became clearer and clearer to me that the power of that show, the success of that show, the benefit that it gave – I have never grown tired of hearing from people who stop me in the street or in a restaurant, who say to me ‚your show changed me life“. Without Star Trek TNG I might not be here. And that lies at the very center of what I have to tell you now: Jean-Luc Picard is back!“
Kurz darauf twitterte Patrick Stewart:
It is an unexpected but delightful surprise to find myself excited and invigorated to be returning to Jean-Luc Picard and to explore new dimensions within him. Read my full statement in the photo. #StarTrek @cbsallaccess Photo: @shervinfoto pic.twitter.com/8Ynuj3RBNm

I will always be very proud to have been a part of Star Trek: The Next Generation, but when we wrapped that final movie in the spring of 2002, I truly felt my time with Star Trek had run its natural course,” Stewart said. “It is, therefore, an unexpected but delightful surprise to find myself excited and invigorated to be returning to Jean-Luc Picard and to explore new dimensions within him. Seeking out new life for him, when I thought that life was over.
During these past years, it has been humbling to hear many stories about how The Next Generation brought people comfort, saw them through difficult periods in their lives or how the example of Jean-Luc inspired so many to follow in his footsteps, pursuing science, exploration and leadership. I feel I’m ready to return to him for the same reason – to research and experience what comforting and reforming light he might shine on these often very dark times. I look forward to working with our brilliant creative team as we endeavor to bring a fresh, unexpected and pertinent story to life once more.
„With overwhelming joy, it’s a privilege to welcome Sir Patrick Stewart back to the Star Trek fold. For over 20 years, fans have hoped for the return of Captain Jean-Luc Picard and that day is finally here. We can’t wait to forge new ground, surprise people, and honor generations both new and old“. Im Grunde ist der ganze Discovery-Lead dabei: Kurtzman will be joined by James Duff, who recently joined Star Trek: Discovery as executive producer and signed a CBS Studios overall deal, former Discovery exec producer Akiva Goldsman, Michael Chabon, and Discovery writer Kirsten Beyer.
He may not be a Captain anymore. He may be someone who has been changed by his experiences. We have no scripts as yet. We’re just talking talking talking storylines. It will be something very different but it will come to you with the same passion.
„We were working to do the best possible show that we could“, sagte Stewart in Las Vegas.
Moments before. So grateful for this experience. Dreams do come true. So thrilled we got to surprise the amazing fans with this special news. MAKE IT SO. these people. COMING SOON. @cbsallaccess @StarTrek @jonathansfrakes @wcruz73 #StarTrekLasVegas pic.twitter.com/8tjWWO2E1w

Picard is back.
PS: TNG binge watchen, jemand dabei?
PS: Haha
If @SirPatStew can return as Picard, then there is absolutely no reason to have anyone but @IanMcKellen as Gandalf in @AmazonStudios #YoungAragorn https://t.co/xRaQjYMOVw
